Outline:Numazu Deep Sea Aquarium "Coelacanth Museum"
From here, we will introduce Numazu Deap Sea Aquarium!
Numazu is located in the eastern area of Shizuoka.
You can visit there from Shizuoka Station around one hour.
The Deep Sea Aquarium is the world's first deep sea fish aquarium that exhibits deep sea creatures from Suruga Bay and unusual creatures from around the world.
The main attraction is the "Coelacanth Museum", which displays a 350-million-year-old "living fossil" coelacanth that has been carved and frozen.
In particular, this is the only place in the world where you can see frozen individuals, so it is a must-see for deep-sea fish enthusiasts.
Approximately 200 species and 3,000 deep-sea creatures are on display, making use of the characteristics of Suruga Bay, the deepest part in Japan with a maximum depth of 2,500m.
About 70 years ago, the coelacanth discovered in the Comoros Islands, it was called a living fossil and gave us a big shock.
They continued to live in the same way as they did 350 million years ago, when the first vertebrates were born.
It's not a big aquarium, so you can visit it in a little over an hour.
So, after that, you can take a walk around the area.
